It's Where You Want to BE
Your Online Stress Management and Personal Growth Community
I
Human beings have never done well in isolation. We are social creatures. We congregate in villages and cities, families and communities. Most successful people develop support systems that assist in achieving their goals.
By support, I mean people in your life who are supportive of you. They may be family, friends, coworkers, mentors, or any number of different kinds of people. The people in your support system are there for you when times are tough, and they encourage you and give you advice in times of need. Support people are also there to do fun things with and enjoy good times with.
Support people help us realize our values and assist us in achieving our goals. They are a part of the glue that pulls all of the concepts and skills in WakingUp.net together. They are extremely vital.
Lots of people have difficulty reaching goals in isolation. This is why there are so many programs out there for individuals to take part in, such as Weight Watchers, Alcoholics Anonymous, Mall Walkers, etc. It helps to make your goals public; it makes it more likely that you will follow through when others are aware of your plan. Get together with others who share your values and are pursuing the same or similar goals. The WakingUp.net Message Boards is a good place to make your goals public, and well as share your struggles and successes. This will help you progress in your journey to reach your goals.
Also, encourage others to meet their goals and help to support and guide them in difficult times. Helping others is an honorable way to achieve satisfaction.
